Scripture Reading: Jn. 2:13-22 |
Jesus
answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple and in three
days I will raise it up.” The Jews said, “This temple has been
under construction for forty-six years, and you will raise it up
in three days?” But he was speaking about the temple of his
Body. Therefore, when he was raised from the dead, his
disciples remembered that he had said this, and they came to
believe the Scripture and the word Jesus had spoken.

Meditation: Try to answer as many questions as
possible
1.
What is the misunderstanding here between
Jesus and the Jews concerning the temple? In the
time of Jesus, what was the temple used for?
2.
Is the temple a holy place? What makes the
temple a holy place? When you are in the temple,
what are you ‘allowed’ to do? What are you ‘not
allowed’ to do?
3.
The disciples ‘remembered’ and believed the
word Jesus had spoken to them. The disciples carry
on the teachings of Jesus through the Church. Can
the Church teach something which is not based on the
teachings of Jesus? Why?
4.
For what reason is a church (or basilica) is
dedicated? What is the significance of the Basilica
of John Lateran? How is this basilica different
from the Basilica of St. Peter?
By Heart: Reflect on this in light of your daily
life situation
We are members in the Church which is the Body of
Christ. The Church is holy because Jesus dwells in
the Church. The Church makes the Eucharist and the
Eucharist makes the Church.
-
What are we doing to build up our parish
church? Are we just content being Sunday goers? Do
we feel that we belong to a parish church
community?
-
Do we have a good devotion to the Eucharist?
When was the last time that we spent some time in
front of the Blessed Sacrament?

5.
For all parish communities here in Miri, that they might
realize the centrality of the Eucharist as the source and summit
of the Christian life
Lord Jesus Christ, by your suffering, death and resurrection,
you give us new life: a life filled with joy and purpose; a
life only you can give it, for you are the source of life.
Guide us on our pilgrimage of life, that following you
faithfully as your disciples, we may witness boldly to the
world, your love and truth. Enlighten our minds and hearts that
your Word which we read and meditated may take roots in our
lives. Help us not to fall into sin and if we do fall due to
our human weakness, bring us back to you for you are the way,
the truth and the life. We also pray for all our brothers and
sisters, wherever they are, who are committed to this prayer,
that their faith may be strengthened, their hope assured and
their love fulfilled. In your name we humbly pray. Amen |
