The Saviour is Waiting

The Saviour is waiting to enter your heart,

why don’t you let Him come in?

There's nothing in this world to keep you apart. What is your answer

to Him?

Time after time

He has waited before, and now he is waiting again to see if you're willing to open the door: Oh, how He wants to come in.

If you'll take one step toward the Saviour,

my friend,

You'll find His arms

open wide.

Receive Him and all of your darkness will end, within your heart

He'll abide.

Scripture Reading:  Mt. 22:1-14

Jesus began to speak to them in parables once again, ‘The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a feast for his son’s wedding. He sent his servants to call those who had been invited, but they would not come…

… “The wedding is ready; but as those who were invited proved to be unworthy, go to the crossroads in the town and invite every one you can find to the wedding”…

Meditation: Try to answer as many questions as possible

1.      To whom was Jesus addressing this parable?  Why did Jesus target this particular group of people?  What was so special about them: what did or didn’t they do?

2.      Who is the king in the parable?  What does the wedding feast of the son stand for?  How many times did the king invite guests to the banquet?  What does this tell you about the king?

3.      Who were the first ones invited to this banquet?  Why didn’t they come to the wedding feast?  What was the king’s reaction?  Was his actions justified?

4.      In the end, who actually went to the wedding banquet?

By Heart: Reflect on this in light of your daily life situation

We are invited to a fabulous feast of food, fellowship and faith with our God.  His invitation is always open, always pending, always available.  But sometimes, we refuse to accept what God gives by giving excuses such as, “I am too busy” or “I have other more important things to do” much like the people in the gospel.  God never stops calling us to his banquet where we can spend time with Him and be nourished by Him.

-          Are we listening to his invitation?  What is preventing us from listening to his invitation?  Could it be that we are more attuned to other invitations?

-          What excuses do we usually give for not spending enough time with God?  In the gospel stories, whom did Jesus spend most of his time with?  Do you think he wants to spend time with you?

-          What happens to us if we spend more time with God in our daily prayer?  How do we going to reply to God’s invitation this week?

“God is sending out His invitations to us with a note:  RSVP Respondez s’il vous plait – Please reply!”

Intercession:

1.      For all those who are struggling with faith and hope love in their lives, that their hearts might be enflamed by the power of the Holy Spirit

2.      For all the sick and the suffering, that strengthened by the grace of God, they might experience the presence of God in times of difficulty

3.      For Rev. Fr. Peter Hwang who was just ordained recently, that the Lord will continue to guide and inspire him in his priestly life and ministry

4.      For all young people, that they might be generous and selfless in responding to the invitation of the Lord to be his faithful disciples wherever they are

5.      For all those sitting for PMR, that the Lord will give them peace of mind and heart during the exams and fill them with his wisdom

Covenant Prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ, by your suffering, death and resurrection, you give us new life:  a life filled with joy and purpose; a life only you can give it, for you are the source of life.  Guide us on our pilgrimage of life, that following you faithfully as your disciples, we may witness boldly to the world, your love and truth.  Enlighten our minds and hearts that your Word which we read and meditated may take roots in our lives.  Help us not to fall into sin and if we do fall due to our human weakness, bring us back to you for you are the way, the truth and the life. We also pray for all our brothers and sisters, wherever they are, who are committed to this prayer, that their faith may be strengthened, their hope assured and their love fulfilled.  In your name we humbly pray.  Amen
